ABOUT ME
I was born in Portsmouth, Virginia and spent my early years in Chesapeake, Virginia, where I graduated high school in 1999.
I enlisted in the United States Army in 2000, serving worldwide, including combat deployments to support the Global War on Terrorism.
While serving on active duty, I attended Western Carolina University, graduating in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Emergency and Disaster Management.
In 2014, I was selected to attend the National Defense University, where I graduated in 2015 with a Master of Arts in Strategic Security Studies.
In June 2021, based on my passion for teaching, coaching, mentoring and two previous U.S. Army Instructor assignments, I was chosen to serve as a Senior Instructor at the Joint Special Operations University in Tampa, Florida. As a result of this assignment, I am now a Certified Higher Education Professional in Teaching both in resident and online environments and a Resilience Building Leadership Professional Trainer.
I am married to the love of my life and have six kids and three grandchildren.
I am an avid runner who completed his first JFK 50 Mile, the oldest ultramarathon in the U.S., in November 2024. The experience was similar to life—supreme highs, dreadful lows, tears and smiles, blood and sweat, cries and laughs. The suffering was significant at times. The adversity was relentless and unopposable, but I would do it all over again in a heartbeat!
Paying it forward and giving back is a gift and passion of mine. I cannot tell you how mentorship can change an individual's life trajectory. I am a living witness to it!
